Ofcom Community Radio Fund Grant - Interim Report

September 30th 2025

Hope FM was awarded a Grant in Round Two of the Community Radio Fund 2024-25 for the hiring of a Business Development and Community Engagement Manager for the period 1st March 2025 to the 30th April 2026.

The post was filled by a business consultancy service.

This post has been focusing on establishing the following for both Hope FM's long-term financial stability, and more effective community engagement:

  • Securing advertising and sponsorship deals, creating long-term financial support for Hope FM.
  • Developing tailored sponsorship packages and promotional opportunities for local businesses and organisations.
  • Leading community engagement initiatives, including workshops and events, to deepen Hope FM’s local impact and foster audience loyalty.

Fundraising support contributed to the creation and submission of multiple funding applications.

Efforts are ongoing to develop a monthly donor scheme and establish regular giving from local partners.

The consultancy supported by the grant has helped the station develop more structured fundraising, clearer messaging, and a replicable social media framework. This has enabled Hope FM to begin shifting from reactive, volunteer-led content to more intentional, community-driven campaigns. It has laid the foundation for long-term sustainability through partner development and clearer income pathways.

The grant supported activities that led to improved digital presence, clearer audience targeting, and more engaging social media. This helped increase both listenership and volunteer interest, particularly among younger demographics and community groups. Off-air social gain includes the start of two new community initiatives, due to be announced in the first half of 2026.

Hope FM is grateful for the support of OFCOM's Community Radio Fund.

We shall be publishing our Final Report at the end of the grant period Q2 2026.
